Hi everyone!

 

I’m Charlene Schermers, and I’m thrilled to be a part of Shogun’s Ultimate Pool. I first met Tammy and Knoxx in 2022 while judging a dock diving event, and I was immediately drawn to Tammy’s energy, passion, and dedication to the sport. When I heard she was opening her own facility, I knew it would be something special and I’m honoured to now support it in multiple capacities.

 

I am a Dock Diving Coach and Mentor, K9Wave Judge and Judge Educator, and an active Dock Diving Competitor with my Irish Water Spaniel, Sway. I began my dock diving journey in 2019 at a local pool with North America Diving Dogs, competing with my first IWS, Mamacass. Shortly after, I became a North America Diving Dog Judge and continued competing locally and regionally while Judging at local, regional and national competition events. My dogs and I have earned numerous qualifier placements and multiple regional and national invitations, including a Top 10 placement at the 2025 NADD Nationals. I’m proud to showcase this rare, beautiful, talented, sometimes wild water retrieving breed on the dock.

 

In 2026, I began an exciting new chapter as Senior Supervising Judge for K9Wave. In this role, I support K9Wave facilities before, during, and after their events; train, certify, and mentor judges; provide seminars; and help dogs and teams develop their skills. This opportunity allows me to contribute to the sport in a broad, dynamic way, one that aligns with my passion, my strengths, and the energy I want to bring to this community.

 

At Shogun’s Ultimate Pool, I’m proud to support the facility both as a Dock Diving Instructor and Team Coach, and as their K9WAVE Senior Supervising Judge. This means I not only work hands-on with dogs and handlers, but also help ensure the facility, its judges, and its events are supported, consistent, and aligned with K9WAVE’s standards for safety, fairness, and fun.

 

Beyond dock diving, my dogs and I also compete in K9 Toss & Fetch, and I actively train and compete in AKC and CKC Rally Obedience and Obedience. One of my proudest accomplishments was earning a Rally Championship with Mamacass in 2024: the first CKC Irish Water Spaniel in Canada to achieve this title.

 

My lifelong connection to animals began long before dog sports. I grew up around horses and spent my youth in 4-H Horse Club and the local Light Horse Club, I was a member of the AQHA and competed in halter, showmanship, and western pleasure. That foundation shaped my training philosophy today: clear communication, partnership, and always putting the animal’s well-being first.

 

I’m known for my safety first, teamwork driven training style, helping dogs and handlers build confidence, connection, and joy in every session. My motto “Teamwork and Fun on the Dock” guides my approach with new jumpers taking their first leap all the way to advanced teams refining striding, technique, and distance. My joy is your success, and I’m committed to helping every team discover what they’re capable of.
