UK9BG Club Member Spotlight: Alexis Cote-Lapointe

​

Alexis has had a deep passion for working dogs and dog training for several years. He began his journey in the dog world working as a professional dog trainer, where he built a strong foundation in canine behavior, obedience, and handler communication. During this time, he discovered how much he valued developing meaningful relationships with dogs and helping them reach their full potential.

 

After relocating to Lethbridge, Alexis was introduced to the PSA community, an experience that opened the door to a new level of training and challenged him to grow both as a handler and as a dedicated student of the sport. Alongside his dog Apollo, he began training under Stan, where Apollo quickly progressed in confidence, obedience, and protection work. Through consistency and dedication, Alexis and Apollo eventually earned membership within the club.

 

As his involvement in the sport deepened, Alexis began learning the art of decoy work under the mentorship of Shaun and Kevin. Their guidance has provided him with valuable insight into dog drives, timing, pressure, and the importance of reading each dog as an individual. Learning from experienced decoys and trainers has significantly broadened his understanding of PSA and working dogs as a whole. Alexis became a PSA Trial Certified Decoy this past April 2026. 

 

Today, Alexis continues to train, learn, and grow within the working dog community alongside Apollo. He remains passionate about building strong working relationships with dogs, refining his handling and decoy skills, and contributing positively to the club environment while continuing to learn from those around him.
