UK9BG Club Member Spotlight: Mickey Hays

​

With over 20 years of experience as an Information Technology Services Analyst, Mickey Hays has been delivering exceptional technical support and innovative solutions since 1999. In 2008, Mickey relocated to Canada to marry his wife, Amanda Poluck, embarking on a new chapter filled with both personal and professional growth.

​

Mickey’s journey into canine training began in 2012 with his first dog, Riddick, through his involvement with the Western Canada Pull Club. It was during a demo for a Wild West Showdown event that he connected with Stan and Tammy, mentors who greatly influenced his development as a trainer. In 2013, he joined UK9BG and has remained dedicated to canine training ever since.

Over the years, Mickey has trained multiple dogs in Protection Sports Association (PSA). Among them is UK9BG Captain Ripley, a Cane Corso who earned her PDCSD under Mickey’s guidance, with Amanda achieving her PDC. His current dog, John Wick’s Backup Plan Vom Königshaus, a promising young German Shepherd Dog, is just one year old. Mickey eagerly anticipates their future accomplishments together.

As a club decoy since 2013, Mickey has gained invaluable hands-on experience working with both club members and private clients under Stan’s mentorship. This role has further deepened his expertise in canine behavior and training, solidifying his reputation as a skilled and versatile trainer.

Beyond his professional and canine training pursuits, Mickey has also achieved success in martial arts. Training under Tammy at her dojo, he earned a Shodan black belt in Goju Ryu Karate, exemplifying his commitment to discipline and continuous self-improvement.

Mickey is a proud member and training director of the Western Canada Pull Club, where he continues to foster a passion for canine sports. The club is thrilled to host the IWPA (International Weight Pull Association) Nationals this year, an event that celebrates the extraordinary capabilities of canine athletes.
